IS-Wireless joins LCI-X Crucible 2-26 activities at OuluZone

The 6G Test Centre hosted Polish company IS-Wireless at OuluZone during the LCI-X Crucible 2-26 and NATO Innovation Range activities, coordinated by NATO Allied Command Transformation.

IS-Wireless, a NATO DIANA Phase II innovator, took part with its Tactical 5G Bubble solution. The company has also worked with the 6G Test Centre on Test and Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV) activities.

The LCI-X Crucible series tests emerging technologies in realistic operational settings. The exercises gather several partners at once, so they can examine how separate systems work together and how they hold up when deployed, rather than judging each solution on its own.

“We were glad to have IS-Wireless at OuluZone and to see how their solution held up alongside other systems, under realistic strain rather than in isolation. That is where we can tell whether a technology is ready to move from the test bench towards operational use, and it is the role we want the 6G Test Centre to play for the companies we work with,” says Hannu Nikurautio, Research Director of the 6G Test Centre at the University of Oulu.

IS-Wireless designed the Tactical 5G Bubble to keep communications running in demanding conditions. Its possible uses include secure connectivity and situational awareness where conventional infrastructure has failed or is unavailable.

The 6G Test Centre runs TEVV work and DIANA-linked activities that let industry partners test and demonstrate dual-use technologies in a live environment.
